What Is CET and Why It Controls Most RSSB Posts
The Common Eligibility Test is a screening exam. Qualifying it does not give you a job. It gives you the eligibility to apply for the main recruitment exams of the posts under it.
CET runs at two levels. The Graduate Level covers services such as Patwari, Junior Accountant, Platoon Commander, and Gram Vikas Adhikari. The Senior Secondary Level covers posts such as Police Constable, Clerk Grade II, Junior Assistant, and Forester.
Your CET score stays valid for 3 years. Within that window, you apply separately for the main exams of the services you want. Each service then follows its own selection rules. So the CET application is the door, and the post specific applications come after you qualify.
Before You Apply: The OTR Rule
RSSB applications use the same One Time Registration system as RPSC. Your OTR profile holds your identity, category, and education details. The application form builds on it.
If you already paid the OTR fee in an earlier RSSB or RPSC cycle, you do not pay again. The same OTR serves every state recruitment application. New candidates complete the registration once with our OTR Rajasthan guide. It records your category, disability status, and home state, and the fee is Rs 600 or Rs 400 based on category.
One rule for candidates from other states. Reserved category status from your home state does not travel to Rajasthan. You are treated as General here and pay Rs 600.
How to Apply for an RSSB Exam: Step by Step
-
Step 1: Log In With Your SSO ID
Go to sso.rajasthan.gov.in and sign in. New users create an account first with our SSO ID registration guide. If your username or password is lost, fix that today rather than in the last week of the application window.
-
Step 2: Open the Recruitment Portal
On your dashboard, select the Recruitment Portal under the Citizen Apps (G2C) section. The portal opens with the list of live recruitments.
-
Step 3: Click Apply Now Against Your Exam
Find your exam in the list, such as the CET Graduate Level or CET Senior Secondary Level, and click Apply Now next to it. If your OTR is incomplete, the portal routes you through it first.
-
Step 4: Fill the Application Form
Your OTR details flow into the form automatically. Complete the remaining fields carefully, especially your educational details. Check every entry against your certificates. RSSB is strict about eligibility, and a wrong detail found later can cancel your candidature at any stage.
-
Step 5: Capture Your Live Photo
The portal captures a live photo through the camera on your device. Follow the rules exactly. Your face must cover at least half the frame. The background must be white or light. Dark glasses or a covered head are not accepted. Sit in daylight or a bright room and look straight at the camera.
-
Step 6: Upload Your Signature
The signature has its own format. Sign in both Hindi and English inside a 7 cm by 2 cm box, using a black or dark blue pen on white A4 paper. Scan or photograph it clearly and upload. A casual signature photo on ruled paper is a common rejection reason.
-
Step 7: Pay and Submit
If any fee applies for your case, pay it through net banking, a debit or credit card, an e-Mitra kiosk, or a Jan Suvidha Kendra. Submit the form, and save the confirmation.
Confirm Your Application Actually Registered
Do not trust a submission screen alone during heavy traffic. Verify it inside the portal.
Log in through SSO, open the Recruitment Portal, and go to the My Recruitment section. Open the Checklist tab and click View Checklist for your exam. If your Application ID appears there, your form is safely registered. Note that Application ID down and keep it until the recruitment completes.
This one minute check separates candidates who know their status from candidates who discover a failed submission after the deadline.
After You Apply: City Slip, Admit Card, and Result
RSSB usually releases a City Intimation Slip before the admit card. It tells you which city holds your exam centre, so you can plan travel early. It publishes on the SSO and Recruitment Portal close to the exam date.
The admit card itself releases only online through your SSO login. No admit card comes by post. Download it from your dashboard, and keep your registered mobile number active for alerts. If your number is changing, update it first with our mobile number change guide.
Results and scores also publish on your SSO ID and the official website. After qualifying a CET, watch for the main exam notifications of your target posts, because those applications happen separately.
The Absence Penalty Every CET Candidate Should Know
The state tracks attendance across its recruitment agencies. The rule counts a financial year from 1 April to 31 March. Stay absent in two or more exams across RSSB, RPSC, or any other state agency in that period, and your OTR gets blocked.
Unblocking costs Rs 750 the first time and Rs 1500 the second time. The lesson is to apply with intent. The one time fee makes it tempting to apply for everything, but every skipped exam moves you closer to a blocked profile in the middle of your preparation.
Apply Early, Not on the Last Date
Application windows for big exams like the CET see extreme traffic in the final days. Heavy load near the deadline causes payment failures and form submission errors at the worst possible time.
Apply in the first half of the window. You keep the correction window as a safety net. Your payment processes smoothly, and a temporary portal problem costs you nothing but a retry.
Common RSSB Application Problems
The Live Photo Keeps Getting Rejected
Match the rules one by one. Face covering at least half the frame, plain white or light background, no dark glasses, nothing covering your head. Most failures come from dim light or a busy background.
A Locked Field Shows Wrong Details
Locked fields come from your OTR. Correct the OTR first, and where the detail traces to Aadhaar or Jan Aadhaar, fix the source document before updating the profile.
The Form Was Submitted With a Mistake
Wait for the correction window that RSSB provides after the application period. You can edit selected details there by paying the correction fee. Verify everything before final submission, because the correction facility is limited and paid.
Old Application Sitting in Another SSO ID
Use the Fetch Application Form option on the OTR profile page to migrate it when your basic details match. If you hold duplicate accounts, our SSO ID merge guide solves the root problem.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is CET compulsory for all RSSB posts?
CET covers the major subordinate and clerical services at Graduate and Senior Secondary levels. Posts under CET require a valid CET score before you can apply for their main exams. Always confirm in the official notification whether your target post falls under CET.
How long is the CET score valid?
Three years. Within that period you can apply for the main exams of the services under your CET level without appearing in CET again.
Do I pay a separate fee for the CET application?
The fee works through the One Time Registration system. If you paid the OTR fee in any earlier RSSB or RPSC cycle, no new payment is needed for the application.
Does qualifying CET guarantee a government job?
No. CET only makes you eligible to compete in the main recruitment exams of the posts you choose. Selection happens through those main exams and the service rules that follow.
Where do I download my RSSB admit card?
Only from the Recruitment Portal through your SSO login. RSSB does not send admit cards by post, and the City Intimation Slip before it also publishes online.
Conclusion
RSSB applications reward candidates who prepare the boring parts early. A completed OTR, a working SSO login, and matching documents remove most failure points. A proper signature scan and an early submission handle the rest.
Apply through the Recruitment Portal, verify your Application ID in the Checklist, and then give your attention to the only thing that actually selects you, which is the exam itself.
